PFD is Scotland`s fastest growing football coaching social enterprise of its kind, successfully delivering 100`s of football related activities every month. Since our inception in 2013 we have strived to push the boundaries of what a typical football origination looks like, we at PFD have our own footballing philosophy and coaching methodology. Using our knowledge and passion for the beautiful game we have created our own player pathway ensuring we effectively visit all of the core skills and develop our players in all areas of the game.

In 2013 PFD launched our Programmes delivered by our fully qualified football professionals. The programme offers schools tailor made packages of football and other activity options which are targeted towards achieving curriculum outcomes. It is designed to be inclusive, with complete activity structures to engage all pupils, from those not normally inspired by sport, through to the budding stars of the future.

Progressive Football Development staff are all qualified and have all appropriate insurance, liability and safeguarding certification. We also believe in nurturing talent and supporting those wanting to gain additional qualifications and skills in the work place.

Formed in 2013 as a social enterprise which prides itself on a professional service and community engagement that includes all participants, nobody is left out and all our coaches live up to the task of not only being great sports coaches but also good role models. We work in nurseries and primary schools, high schools, holiday camps, one to one coaching sessions, children`s parties and our award winning football academies. We aim to be able to develop children through sport from 3 to 18 years old, before, during and after school as well as at the weekends and during the school holidays..

"We aim to ensure that every child who participates in one of our programmes not only learns but has fun, sports can bring many things to a child, confidence, self esteem, friendship, creativity, a healthy lifestyle and much more. The impact of playing sports can last a life time. We like to think that every child who passes through our doors goes away with a good experience and some kind of skill or knowledge which they can use again and again`

We believe football should be a sport enjoyed by everyone, so we place a strong emphasis on having fun whilst also learning and developing. Our bespoke training methods are designed to facilitate for the needs of each individual. Our approach and philosophy has been carefully structured incorporating the best coaching practices used around the world. We aim to produce players who move with elegance, pass with precision, control with confidence and play with purpose. We have a distinguished reputation for providing players opportunities to progress their careers further at various professional academies.

PFD recognizes that the role of the coach has never been so important. The organisation has been established with belief that sport can play a key role in developing young people beyond the confines of a field or a sports hall.

PFD has been established so that every child supported 'can be the best that they can be'. This includes improving their performance as an individual and a team player in football but also by using football as a means to address key social issues such as health, anti-social behaviour and inequality

PFD will

  • Recognize 'difference' in young people and support all individuals to improve;
  • Ensure that all young people experience achievement;
  • Enhance the self esteem of young people;
  • Help to develop confidence in young people;
  • Encourage young people to make decisions for themselves;
  • Develop positive attitudes around 'fair play' and respect for others.

All coaching sessions are delivered in a fun but structured manner and are planned to ensure that supporting organisation's objectives are achieved.

Our coaches must be bursting with enthusiasm and energy. They will be dealing with young players, who need high energy levels to equal their own. We want to inspire confidence and develop the technical skills for players to be extraordinary.

Our senior coaches must understand the game to a high level. Some of our coaches will have been at professional academies and the chilrdren will only have as much knowledge as they are given from their coaches.

Our academy managers are a minimum UEFA qualified with development coaches Level 1.2 and 1.3 qualified. We also hold our own PFD session exams which coaches must complete.

Safety Checks

Our coaches and staff members working for PFD must hold a valid PVG Disclosure before they can begin working with any children.

Our coaches have wonderful creative imaginations, which means they can come down to the children's level and create amazing, fun experiences for the players. Young children are far more likely to learn if the coach is tapping into their world with pirates, aliens and monsters!

We have links with various professional clubs across the UK. When players are ready will have the chance to showcase their talents to these clubs.
